Problem Description:
The Continuous Data Protection service (CDP) crash with the following error:
CDPService.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Example:
Upon further investigation, the following error messages is found in the Application logs of Event Viewer:
Event Type: Error
Event ID: 1000 / 1004
Description: Faulting application CDPService.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.
Notes:
Event Viewer can be located by clicking on [Start] -> [Settings] -> [Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Event Viewer].
- Resolution:
- Download the Microsoft.VC80.CRT.zip and msvcr80.zip file
- Shutdown the Online Backup Scheduler and Continuous Data Protection service by:
[Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Online Backup Scheduler (Servosity Pro/Standard)]->Stop
[Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Continuous Data Protection (Servosity Pro/Standard)]->Stop - Extract the download files to the ${Install-Home}\bin directory
- Startup the Online Backup Scheduler and Continuous Data Protection service by:
[Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Online Backup Scheduler (Servosity Pro/Standard)]->Start
[Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Continuous Data Protection (Servosity Pro/Standard)]->Start
- Download the Microsoft.VC80.CRT.zip and msvcr80.zip file
