This is a Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) issue.
- Resolution:
Please check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is started.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Administrative Tools, and then double-click the Services snap-in
- Check for Volume Shadow Copy
Windows 7 / 2008:
To resolve the issue, please follow the instructions below:- Please download the "RegisterVSS2008.bat" script file
- Save the file to ${Install-Home}\bin
- Execute the script file
- Reboot the machine
For cases where the problem persist, please open the Event Viewer snap-in on the affected machine to determine the cause of the error:- Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Administrative Tools, and then double-click the Event Viewer snap-in
- Under Application, check for any Volume Shadow Copy error at the time of the backup
