When performing a VMware VM backup, the following error message is received in the backup report:
VMware VM backup in VDDK mode is only supported for VMware hypervisor with a license type that supports VDDK API (e.g. VMwareessentials license). VDDK (Virtual Disk Development Kit) licensing requires paid vSphere platform products, not free ESXi standalone.
When VMware backups are done in VDDK mode, this allows ServosityPro to leverage the 'Changed Block Tracking' (CBT) feature of VMware, which only backs up the blocks that have changed since the last backup, rather than backing up every block of the virtual machine. In effect it will greatly speeds up the backup of a virtual machines compared with non-VDDK mode.
Create a new backup set with non-VDDK backup mode. Select No when prompted to enable CBT. Alternatively, apply a paid license on the corresponding hypervisor (consult with VMware's representatives for the licensing requirement). For backup on VMware vCenter, ensure that the operation system account configured has permissions for VDDK at vCenter Server level:
