As we draw close to the Sunset of Servosity version 6, one thing that customers need to be aware of is that any version before 6.29 is incompatible with our version 8 servers. When we update the server to version 8, any server still running pre-6.29 software will be unable to connect, login, backup, or auto-update.
Our auto-updater should take care of updating most of your previous software versions to 6.29, however in some cases this it may not work out of the box. Over the next few weeks you should receive a list of any accounts that are still on the previous versions that need to be updated. This guide will help you get the auto-updater working, or if that is impossible, show you where to download the latest version 6 installer.
First and simplest, make sure that the application is not running on any user, as the client cannot be updated while the program is running:
- Open task manager
- Switch to "Details" tab or enable "Show processes for all users"
- Kill any running instances of bjW.exe
If you weren't able to find the application running, you can try restarting the AutoUpdateAgent service:
- Open the services snap-in (services.msc)
- Select AutoUpdateAgent
- Click the "Restart" button at the top
Once the agent service is restarted you can check the agent log:
This will tell you if the auto update agent is running and whether it has found a new version:

If you see something like this, and there are no running instances, then the update should begin within an hour. If you see any errors, you can try rebooting the system, or you can install the update manually:
- Go to cp.servosity.com (or your private label portal) and login
- Click on any company
- Click on the "Download Software" link in the Company bar at the top
- Click on the Professional or Standard link to download the 6.29 installer
- Run the installer, no reboot required
