Learn how we use HashiCorp Vault and AWS to keep your access credentials and backup encryption keys secure.
Let's talk about security! As your backup partner, we handle some pretty important stuff - specifically, the credentials to access your clients' systems and the encryption keys for their backups. We take this responsibility seriously (while still trying to keep this article from putting you to sleep 😉).Why We Need to Store Credentials
Here's what we're managing for you:
- Access credentials to keep your backups running smoothly
- Encryption keys to keep your backups secure
- All the technical bits that make the magic happen
Our Security Setup
The Fancy Security Platform
We use HashiCorp Vault - think of it as a super-secure digital vault (yes, that's really its name) that's trusted by some of the biggest companies in tech. It's like Fort Knox, but for your digital credentials.Multiple Layers of Protection
We don't mess around when it comes to security:- Everything's locked behind our control panel (cp.servosity.com)
- Two-factor authentication is mandatory (no exceptions - we're strict about this one!)
- Your encryption keys are stored in our Vault Server (Encrypted against prying eyes)
- The encryption key to access the vault server is only accessible through AWS KMS (Amazon's ultra-secure key storage)
We Keep Track of Everything
We're basically digital librarians when it comes to logging:- Every time someone views or copies credentials? Logged.
- Need to know who accessed what and when? We've got you.
- Old credentials and keys? We keep those too. Forever. (We're kind of digital packrats that way.)
Rock-Solid Infrastructure
Our security infrastructure runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Think of it as having your credentials stored in one of the most secure data centers in the world. We're Serious About Security
While we like to keep things light, there's nothing funny about security. We're constantly monitoring, updating, and improving our security practices to make sure your clients' data stays safe and sound.
