This short article will explain how our M365 backup system treats deleted mailboxes.
Once you delete a mailbox in Microsoft 365, our system will still try to back it up for a few days. This is our policy because, if a mailbox is accidentally deleted, we want to be able to pick up on the backups when the mailbox is recreated/restored.
If our system detects that the backups have failed for a few days and the mailbox does not exist, we will Archive the mailbox. At this point, if another mailbox is made with the same name as the deleted mailbox, we will treat it as a new mailbox and start a new backup for it.
One important thing to note, Archived mailboxes, will still count as a mailbox for billing purposes. All the data from the archived mailbox will stay in our cloud and will be restorable for as long as the backup account exists. If you are confident that you no longer need that mailbox data, you can reach out to our Support Team by emailing Support@Servosity.com and we will delete the archived mailbox.
If you still have any questions about this, feel free to email us at Support@Servosity.com.
