What is the difference between Fully Managed and Self Managed?

With our push to make all backups simple, we converted most companies to our Simplified type with a clear distinction between Fully Managed accounts and Self Managed accounts.

To learn more about Simplified, check out this article.

For Simplified accounts, Fully Managed backups are found under the SAFE tab and Self Managed backups are found under the Backups tab. The differences between the two are as follows:

Fully Managed:

  • Daily Monitoring
    • You will get a Dedicated engineer who will look over your companies every day
  • Automatic Testing
  • Proactive Backup Troubleshooting and Fixes
    • Your Dedicated engineer will troubleshoot and fix backup issues, any issue that they cannot resolve will be relayed to you
  • Restores Done for You
    • Contact Emergency@Servosity.com and we'll do most of the restore for you!
    • We won't be able to go on-site and install systems but we will do the bulk (if not all) of the restore for you

Self Managed:

To start, accounts are made Self Managed for the following reasons:

  • Any unsupported OS
    • For a full list of Servosity Simplified supported OS, click here
  • Companies where remote access is not permitted/doesn't work
    • We won't be able to monitor and troubleshoot backups without remote access
  • Systems where support requests have been ignored/declined for an extended period
    • We try our best to resolve backups but there is a limit to what we can do, for example, we won't reboot your production systems.
    • We can't continue to monitor your systems if you don't work with us

For Self Managed accounts:

  • Support on request
    • We will provide normal troubleshooting and support if you request it
      • This will generally entail getting us remote access over a meeting or a phone call if we don't have access
  • No Automatic Testing
    • The chkdsk verification will be turned off (mainly because it does not run properly on unsupported OS)
  • Restores done with you
    • You can still reach out to Emergency@Servosity.com and we will assist with restores
    • We will provide support on setting up the restore and assist with troubleshooting if we run into issues
    • We will NOT do the restore for you or monitor the progress of a restore
