Servosity Simplified Onboarding Checklist

This article should serve as a checklist to make sure a company is ready for our team to get onboarded.

While we handle the backups for you, there are a number of things that we need from you first, hence the term partner! We want to do the bulk of the work for you but, to get there, we need you to do these things first.

Below will be a list of things that we will need from you before we get started:

  • Make sure your system is a Supported Operation System
  • ShadowProtect SPX 7.5.8 and ImageManager 7.9.0 are installed
    • We will usually take care of this for you as our first steps but, a reboot is usually required before backups can start. If these are already installed and ready, we can get your backups going right away!
    • If you currently have SPX or ShadowProtect installed, you might need to perform some extra steps to get upgraded to SPX 7.5.6. You can follow our guide for Upgrading SPX
  • Plenty of space for a new image chain for all managed systems
    • At a minimum, we need space on the Backup Destination equal to the amount of used space on all source volumes
    • For starting a new chain, we recommend having at least 2x the amount of used space on all source volumes. This will allow the new chain to be created and for it to run for a while before we have to make any space considerations.
    • Ultimately, we recommend having 3.5x the Total Source Volume size for your Backup Destination so you don't have free space issues in the future (Click Here for our BDR Recommendations)
  • Credentials for everything have been added to our portal
    • These will go under the Credentials & Keys Page for the respective company
    • Local Admin Credentials for all servers that are being Managed (these can be a local user or a domain account)
    • Admin Credentials for the NAS/BDR
      • If you create a Servosity Share for us, credentials for an account with Read/Write permissions to the Servosity share will work just fine.
  • Company and Backup Accounts are created in our Portal
    • Once you log in to our Portal, there will be a Green Add Company button
      • After clicking Add Company you'll need to Specify the Company name. This is just an organizational tool so name it as you'd like. Click Create Simplified Company
    • After creating the company, you should see the company listed below. Click on the Company Name
    • This will take you to the Company Dashboard, you will have to download and install our Remote Access Tool and ServosityOne on all systems being backed up. You can find the download under the Downloads dropdown on the far right.
      • You can run our powershell script or the .exe (these are unique per company)
      • After installing ServosityOne, you can create your backup accounts by pressing the Green Add or Provision Account button
      • Follow the questions and make sure to select New Account
      • Enter the Computer Name in the top left field. If you don't know your computer name, you can find it by following these instructions. This has to be the exact computer name for the Backups to run properly.
      • Select your Retention and add any applicable notes that may be needed for this machine. Note: Increasing retention above 1 year will increase the monthly cost of that account. Check your pricing sheet for details.
      • Select all the Volume letters you will be imaging. Only backups of the Volumes that are selected here will be uploaded to our cloud.
      • Select the Create Backup Account button
    • NAS is configured and ready for a Backups Share
      • There are some steps you need to do for a NAS before we can start using it. This will largely depend on your Brand of NAS. This initial setup is complete when you can access and store files on the NAS.
      • Next, we'll need Admin Credentials for the NAS added to our Credentials & Keys Page
        • If you don't want to give us Admin Credentials, you'll need to create a Servosity Share and give us a User with Read/Write Access to the Servosity Share
      • The NAS should be accessible by all systems being backed up
        • Ideally, we can access the NAS through File Explorer for setups and restores
    • Our Remote Access tool is installed on all Managed Systems and BDR(s)
      • You can find the download link for this installer on the respective Company Dashboard under the Downloads Dropdown

        • You can locate the company dashboard by signing into our portal and clicking on the company name
        • You can see that our Remote Access tool is installed if you see our Screen Connect Instance in the toolbar:
    • AV Exceptions are in place
